Hawkins Cove is located about 3 km. (less than 2 miles) west of in the South Cariboo area of the BC Interior..
As a true "Four Seasons" area, we see and hear nature in action all year long. Here are our recent observations...August 2008
Aug 02: Common Merganser with four young
Aug 03: Fledgling Western Tanagers and Cedar Waxwings eating Saskatoon berries
Aug 04: Great Blue Herons active along shore
Aug 06: Belted Kingfisher here a lot
Aug 08: 1 immature Bald Eagle hunting along shore
Aug 11: Red-necked Grebe
Aug 13: Chipmunks eating Osier Dogwood berries
Aug 14: Huge beaver with small one eating lily pads
Aug 15: Lots of Swainson’s thrushes calling early
Aug 16: Heard Sandhill Cranes
Aug 18: about 40 Pine Siskens eating birch seeds
Aug 20: Lots of migrators – Cedar Waxwings, Evening Grosbeaks,
Nashville & McGillivray Warblers, Vireos.
