Hawkins Cove is located about 3 km. (less than 2 miles) west of in the South Cariboo area of the BC Interior..

As a true "Four Seasons" area, we see and hear nature in action all year long. Here are our recent observations...

August 2008


  • Aug 02:  Common Merganser with four young

  • Aug 03:  Fledgling Western Tanagers and Cedar Waxwings eating Saskatoon berries

  • Aug 04:  Great Blue Herons active along shore

  • Aug 06:  Belted Kingfisher here a lot

  • Aug 08:  1 immature Bald Eagle hunting along shore

  • Aug 11:  Red-necked Grebe

  • Aug 13:  Chipmunks eating Osier Dogwood berries

  • Aug 14:  Huge beaver with small one eating lily pads

  • Aug 15:  Lots of Swainson’s thrushes calling early

  • Aug 16:  Heard Sandhill Cranes

  • Aug 18:  about 40 Pine Siskens eating birch seeds

  • Aug 20:  Lots of migrators – Cedar Waxwings, Evening Grosbeaks, Nashville & McGillivray Warblers,       Vireos.
